The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters Volume One Gordon Dahlquist Books
I bought what turned out to be book 3 because I liked the cover and though my kid might enjoy it. Then she told me it was book 3 and she couldn't read it without the first two. So I ordered them. I've gotten through the first book, but really had to force myself. Volume 1 ends on a cliffhanger, but I haven't been compelled to get resolution and start Volume 2 after finishing 1 a month ago. This is not what I would call a young adult book. the writing is not college level, but the violence and sexual depictions are. My daughter is a very wise 15 year old who reads beyond a college level and I wouldn't have issue with her reading this, but every parent should be warned it is graphic. You will need to decide if your kid can handle it.

The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters Volume One Gordon Dahlquist Books Reviews
Really good read, this is a hard book to put down
I've read each book of the series as they came out and then read from the beginning all over again.
A decent 3 book series cliffhanger. Charactors are crafted ok. Plot good but more action and suspense would be appreciated.I only find myself wishing it would be over occasionaly.
This is one of my all time favorite book series. A very original story unlike anything I've read before.
I've just re-read this book, having recommended to my book club. It's very different from any novel I've read before. I find the settings and characters so well done, and I'm looking forward to continuing the series. On to volume Two!
After hundreds of trite, boring and repetitive novels over the past few years, my faith has finally been restored to the belief that it is still possible to create an enthralling fictional world, one that will make me want to forget dinner, ignore my favorite TV shows and do nothing but read. I'm currently 50 pages into The Dark Volume and hope that Dahlquist never stops writing about Miss Temple, Cardinal Chang and Dr. Svenson.
Realistically this book would have been much better had the story been edited in half. The plethora of useless information/run on sentences/gratuitous sex killed the whole story. I didn't even like the characters who were as weak as watered down tea. I was so bored with the book that I skipped from page 76 to page 258 where the plot was still trudging on at the speed of an unconscious sloth. The monotony of the next ten pages forced me to toss the book in the dust bin. I would only suggest this book to someone I truly despised.
