What an exciting new series involving a group of warrior shapeshifters! This story has it all..romance, intrigue, mythology and mystery. Lyon and Kara's romance has the right level of steam, tension and compatibility. The mix of warriors is interesting with several complex personalities whose backstories I cannot wait to discover. The ending was climatic and it delivered with just enough unresolved to whet my appetite for the next book.

Were these warriors borderline Neanderthal at times? Of course but there was a definite shift as the story progressed that was consistent with the storyline. What would you expect when a woman comes to live with nine male animals with no female influence? Kara left her imprint by the end of the book.

Despite some of the other reviews posted here, i believe this was a very interesting and exciting start. I am a big fan of some of the other series mentioned in comparison and remember those first books needing a little refinement. The first books are tough...you have to establish the premise and world, lay the character groundwork and create an exciting story. Palmer delivered and I can't wait to begin the next book.

I started looking for a series similar to the black dagger brotherhood and in my quest, The Feral Warriors was mentioned a few times by others so I thought I'd give it a shot! Desire untamed is not up to par with the BDB but it isn't a terrible book! The Ferals are shifters of different animals. Their names give light to what animal they are, I mean it's blarringly obvious. The book moved so fast in the very beginning and I felt like some information was left out. I do not dislike this book, but I won't be buying book number two for six dollars. This book didn't snare me enough to keep reading. It's a shame because I had high hopes, I love shifter stories but this one just had too much, too quick. It was hard to keep up and the story wasn't intriguing enough for me to want to keep up. The end was very anticlimactic, there is some suspense in which I kept thinking "how will the resolve this?!" But after the solution came to light before the book even ended it made the end of the story fall flat. The characters weren't mapped out enough, not enough detail of their surroundings. It was hard to picture anything in the book. Desire Untamed was a quick read and it didn't bore me to tears but continuing the series isn't worth the money if the first book is anything to go by.
This was an enjoyable read that I'd definitely have no problem recommending to those who like withcraft, shapeshifters, hunky alphas and lustful hot sex.
This is a well-written, fast-paced story with interesting twists and turns, whodunits, plus suspense and adventure. No boring middle-of- the- novel here.
If the author could go back and change some stuff, I'd ask her to give us a little bit of Kara's history. We know nothing about her, other than, she knows nothing about herself. However, she was raised by someone who took her in--this adoptive mother surely knew something about Kara's past...? How did Kara's mother even find her? Why was Kara given up? I found it a bit strange that these things weren't even brought up nor discussed by the characters.
Also, the following sort of stumped me--the whole plot takes place in two days--two days!! Within two days, Kara's mother dies, Kara is kidnapped, faced with having to accept a whole crazy paranormal world, is almost killed--how many times??--discovers she's not human and further, discovers she has her own powers and learns to embrace and use them, falls in love--but folks, deeply and completely within a day?--! Goes through funky rituals (pretty hawt)...is chased by demons and mages...heals and kills...just SO much happens that it feels implausible. Give the book a week at least.
Aside from these two major points--the story is a fun read. Maybe I'm biased... I've always loved a shapeshifting lion--rawr!
I read some reviews where they did this book was all about sex. That made me cautious. I also read some reviews that said the story line was subpar.
Well, all I can say is to each there own. For those that said it was all about sex and should be an erotic novel...I have to wonder if they have ever read one. This was a romance novel plain and simple. We're there some moments that were heated. Yes. Were they on the level of an erotic novel. Hell no. As for the story line. This is a shifter fantasy romance novel. You have to have a little imagination to read romance. I have most certainly read fantasy that requires far more imagination then this.
Now that isn't to say that I wasn't able to guess what was going on from almost the start. But that doesn't make this a bad read by any terms. I am only sorry I didn't find this series sooner.
